Melvin “Gene” Bowie Hall of FameGene Bowie, of Saint Marys, WV was nominated for his commitment to the West Virginia Hunter Education Program and was instrumental to the cooperation of the WVDNR Hunter Educators. He has served his community well with Teaching Concealed Carry, Hunter Education classes, always ready to step-in to teach classes when needed by the public on short notice, showing readiness and was always prepared for classes at any time. He has done a lot for wildlife conservation as well when needed. Gene has retired as an instructor for health concerns. His hobbies and interests include; reloading ammo, shooting, hunting, reading books, especially his Bible, gardening and the upkeep of his farm. He has taken members of his family hunting, passing on the tradition. He has a lot of information that he passes on to new instructors or those that call on his wealth of instruction. Gene was a Volunteer Instructor of the Year for District 6. He has over 24 years of service to the WVHE as an instructor, with over 38 classes as Team Leader.
