2024 Martin D. Hess
Martin Hess was nominated because of his many hours dedicated to the HE program; over the course of time that he has been an instructor. Being lead instructor most of his teaching time for over eleven years; he has been active teaching in Calhoun, Braxton, and Wood counties. Martin holds several classes each year, as well as the Hands-On testing classes. He is an avid hunter and fisherman that is always happy to share his knowledge of safety in the outdoors.Martin is a Lifetime member of the West Virginia Hunter Education Association, Serving as the current secretary. Some of the other areas of involvement that makes him a good volunteer instructor are:• Life Member North American Hunting Club• Member NRA• Volunteer Firefighter 30 years / Fire Chief the last 10 years• Deacon Trustee at Leading Creek Baptist Church• Coach and Umpire for Little League Baseball, Pony League Baseball and American Legion Baseball 20+ years• 3 Time District Volunteer Instructor of the Year• 2 Time State Volunteer of the Year.
