Mike Cooper of Nicholas County has been an Outstanding Leader. He makes sure of dates and times and location of classes are coordinated with the team and posted so that the public can register for and attend the classes. He coordinates with all of the team to schedule classes. He is a true hunter and likes to set the example for Hunter Ethics as well as Safety. He checks to make sure all of the pertinent information is covered thoroughly for all in attendance. He follows each instructor of the class to make sure the material is not only correct, but understood.
• 1968, 69 & 70 Boy Scouts of America -----Eagle Scout Worked 3 summers during High School at a Distillery Mill Boy Scout Reservation in Pocahontas County for various Merit Badges• 1972 – 78 Served in the United States Air Force & WV Air Guard• 1975 -78 WVDNR Officer Worked in Wyoming, McDowell & Nicholas Counties Mentored 4-H students as well as All other duties of a Conservation Officer• 1978 – 2001 West Virginia State Police, Retired 1st Lieutenant Worked Fayette, Nicholas, Webster & Pocahontas Counties Completed his service at Troop 2 HQ in Jefferson County as Troop Executive Officer covering seven Counties• 2001-2012 Served as Magistrate of Nicholas County• 2012 -2015 Investigator for Nicholas County Prosecuting Attorney 50 year Member National Rifle Assoc. Member Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation Member Sportsman Alliance Nicholas County Team Leader ---11 Years Cooperator Instructor Nicholas County Schools, Little Baptist Church and Kesslers Cross Lanes Fire Department Always Recruiting; relatives, friends/family members Hunting & Fishing He Never had a Tolerance for “Slob Hunter or Game Hogs”• Served the last 3 Years as District 3 WVHEA Representative• District 3 Instructor of the Year in 2007 and 2023
