William K. Wenitsky, nominated and inducted into the West Virginia Hunter Education Hall of Fame for his commitment to the Hunter Education Program as an instructor for over 33 years in West Virginia and in 1994 took over as lead instructor in Berkley County as well as Morgan and Jefferson Counties, until replacements could be found. He has remained Team leader in Berkley County ever since. William has set-up and coordinated classes to meet the demand of the Martinsburg area for over 29 years. Prior to 1990 William lived in Pennsylvania, where he worked and retired from the Philadelphia Police Department from 1973 to 1990. William became a Volunteer Hunter Education Instructor for the Pennsylvania Game Commission in 1973 until his move to West Virginia in 1990. Over the span of those years, he was responsible for hundreds of sportsmen and women in PA. Prior to his police service and service as a HE instructor he enlisted in the United States Navy during the Viet-Nam War. There his service included anti-submarine warfare detection, Air Sea Rescue and became an instructor for both. Honorably discharged from the Navy in 1970.Other accomplishments he has had over the years include him becoming an NRA Firearms instructor in 1973 up to the present day. He took a position as a Vol-Teck teacher at James Rumsey Vocational Institute for High School students teaching Graphic Communications (printing.) He served in this position from 1997 - 1998. In 1998 William took a job as an investigator for the Law office of Laura Rose that later became Judge Faircloth. William currently serves as a court bailiff for Berkley County Court Systems. He worked in that position from 2003 to 2015, left for a short time and returned in 2019. William has spent his life in the service of his country through his military and police service; and of this year has served as a Volunteer Hunter Safety Instructor, for 50 years with a combined Pennsylvania and West Virginia service to Hunter Safety.
