We are a non-profit organization of certified volunteer instructors working diligently as partners with the West Virginia Division of Natural Resources
(DNR) to administer the Hunter Education Program.
We cherish the opportunity to share our knowledge of nature and enable people to enjoy our heritage and the outdoors regardless of ability or interest.
Organized in 1996, dozens of certified volunteer instructors annually donate thousands of personal hours of time inside and outside the classroom.
In 1999, the WVHEA launched the Special Needs Program. Whether it is a 10-year-old at their first class, or a person with 10 years outdoors experience,
anyone who requests or needs special attention can receive individualized training. Class presentations are adapted for individuals with physical impairments such
as hearing or mobility. These DNR sponsored Hunter Education Courses are open to the public and are FREE.
Join us for the 2012 West Virginia Hunting and Fishing Show will be held at the Charleston Civic Center from Friday to Sunday.
The show, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, is organized by the West Virginia Trophy Hunters Association. More than 240 booths will be featured,
providing a great resource for hunters and fishermen in the area to pick up some materials they need. The show features exhibitors from as far away as New
Zealand, Spain and South Africa.
The show will also include the West Virginia Whitetail Hall of Fame, allowing hunters to bring deer trophies in for official scoring. Participants can bring as
many mounts as they want to be scored. The West Virginia Wildlife Charity Auction will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday as part of the show.
Adult admission is $7. The show will run from noon to 9 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. For more information about
the event, visit www.wvtrophyhunters.com or call 304-768-9999.
